About Fairwood, Washington:
The Fairwood area was settled in the late 1880’s with coal mining, farming, and ranching as the major activities. Along the Maple Valley Highway, the Aqua Barn and the Elliott Farm buildings remain standing as reminders of the early days. In those times, transportation was limited, especially in the winter. There were several lakeside resorts used by Seattle area residents for fishing and day trips. In February 2005, the Fairwood Task Force filed a motion of incorporation with King County, Washington, to establish a new city under the name of Fairwood. Fairwood features the Fairwood Shopping Center with two large grocery stores, hardware store, dry cleaners, a large medical center, restaurants. And of course like every other block in the Seattle area Fairwood has a Starbucks. The Fairwood Golf and Country Club wanders through Fairwood Greens, Fairwood West and other neighborhoods. The new communities of Woodside, Trovitsky Park and the Parks wrap the original homestead area of Shady Lake. Large trees, occasional Mount Rainier views and a golf course in the back yard make this area desirable. Petrovitsky Park, operated by King County, is immense with ball fields, tennis courts and is the scene of many hours of fun for all ages. Fairwood has it’s share of great churches, including Renton Christian Center on the Corner of Petrovitsky Road and Old Petrovitsky Road. When you move here, give us a try, our doors are always open.
